Ivan Blažetić is an illustrator, muralist, painter, and sculptor. His chosen artist name, Sumski, is a Croatian word meaning “from the forest”.
Growing up in Rijeka (Croatia) and currently based in Berlin, Sumski developed a very distinctive taste for art after graduating in theatre and art pedagogy in his hometown.
Performative art and painting have a lot in common when it comes to storytelling, and his own artworks reflect this vision with their strong narrative elements. For Sumski, visual art embodies the capacity of empowering the viewers to overcome their own fears, connecting them through compassion and empathy.
Sumski´s artworks can be found in Berlin, Zagreb, Trondheim and more cities, while he has also worked as an illustrator for brands such as Nike, New Scientist Magazine, Affinity Designer for iPad, and Igapa, the biggest supplier of paper in the E.U.
Sumski´s illustrations have been exhibited extensively in galleries like Factory Fifteen in London, and the Urban Spree Gallery in Berlin.
